GIVING - COMMUNITY OF GRACE

Here at Community of Grace Church we practice the Biblical principle of free will or grace giving. We do not believe in paying tithe to God, the church or ministry. The Biblical principle for free will giving is found in the Old and New Testaments and is not to be confused with tithing which was of the Mosaic law and a national tax that provided for the Levitical priest, public festivals and as welfare for the poor, widows and orphans. The basis for giving at Community of Grace Church is based upon the following.

  • 1. Giving should be and is always a private matter that should come from the heart as led by God and as God has prospered you. (1 Cor. 16:2, 2 Cor. 8:3, 2 Cor. 9:7, Ex. 25:2, Ex 35:4,5)

  • 2. No one should be forced to give or feel forced to give. (2 Cor. 8:3, 2 Cor. 9:7)

  • 3. The amount given is never specified or determined by a percentage or even a set amount. How much one gives is determined by the leading of the Holy Spirit and how God has prospered the individual. One can give any amount as they feel led by God from their heart. (Gen. 4:2-4, Ex. 35:21, Prov. 3:9, Luke 6:38, 1 Cor. 16:2)

At Community of Grace Church, we believe that free will or grace giving has always been God’s plan for giving. We believe that giving is always voluntary. We believe that no one should give out of compulsion, manipulation or intimidation. Give from your heart as you feel led by God.
